Holiday Party/Drum Circle

The end of the 2012 is upon us and we have one final event scheduled to give everyone a chance to dance, drum, hang out, and have fun here at the new studio before we close for the holidays.  It’s a combination December Drum Circle / Holiday Party / Studio Warming Party, this Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 7:30-10pm!  It is totally free and will start with a mini drum rhythm lesson/refresher for anyone interested (we’ll even teach you a dance move or two if you like so you can dance with us too).  We will then spend the remainder of the evening jamming (drumming and dancing) and socializing.  The Shambling Shimmies may even do a short fire dance or two at the end of the night, weather permitting.  Hand drums of any style, zills, tambourines, etc. or even just your hands for clapping along with the rhythm are all welcome. Drummers and all styles of bellydancers are welcome whether you’ve had years of experience or never danced or drummed a day before the intro lesson! The goal for this event is fun, community, and participation, not performance and perfection 🙂 So come out and jam with us – we’ll see you there!

Studio Closed for Holidays

After the party, the studio will be closed for the remainder of 2012 (12/23/13-12/31/13).  We will reopen for Tribal Bellydance, Shambling Shimmies Style at 6pm on January 1, 2013 – so you can start your new year off dancing with us!

The January Class Schedule has been set for the studio!  There are some new classes, some old favorites (some of which have new names), and some made over classes.

New Studio Update:

We have completed the major renovations required prior to moving in.  We are now in the process of getting the final arrangements made for our inspection and hope to complete this within the week.  If all goes well, we hope to move in to the new studio the week of Dec. 9, 2012.  We will post here on the website, on Facebook, Twitter, send a newsletter and announce it in all classes when the date for moving classes is final.  You can follow us in any or all of these places for these and other updates:

New Studio Update/Progress:

As many of you know, we are especially thankful for our new studio!  The walls are painted, the floor is down, and the mirrors are up.  We still have some finishing touches to put on as we are preparing for our inspection.  We still plan to move in early December.  We will update you as soon as we have an official move-in date!

Have you heard the big news? Shambling Shimmies has leased a new, bigger studio location!  We are currently renovating and decorating and we hope to move in by December 1.

The new studio will open up several exciting opportunities for us:

• larger space for regular classes
• space allowing for lit fire classes
• space that allows for running certain classes simultaneously
• space large enough to allow for events previously not possible or previously limited such as workshops and studio parties

The new location will be:

We have some pre-renovation pictures up on our facebook page here and we’ll keep posting the progress as we go for those of you who would like to follow along.

We want to thank everyone who voted in our poll to determine which class to put in the Monday 6:30-7:30pm spot!  Based on your feedback, we will be adding a new Choreography Class beginning Monday, October 1 at 6:30 and kicking things off with a Level 1 Drum Solo.
